again and again and again....

this time the super hype psp by sony decide to tackle wall-mart. how? with a fake blog.
yes, a fake blog.
through the ad agency zipatoni (ok, you may laugh about the name) sony produced a brilliant blog named All I Want For Christmas is a PSP. the bloggers are two assholes trying to sell that they do speak a hip hop slang. i'm not mother tongue, i do live in italy, but i'm rather confident that hip hop slang is not that one. read this: "yo where all u hatas com from... juz cuz you aint feelin the flow of PSP dun mean its sum mad faek website or summ... youall be trippin."
they pretend so much that eventually got discovered. a blogger (Chris Heuer) traced the whois of the blog, reporting:

come on, you pretend to be tech dudes and get caught in such a stupid way.
and by the way, the good old greg is one of the two bloggers!

Gianandrea,

We would do our brands and our clients' brands a big favor if we would just practice honesty. Good post. Thanks for sharing.

lewis, it's embarassing how bog companies, supposed to have fine strategists, eventually put themselves in such a tricky situation. and how many fake marketers and adv agencies are around. take care and god bless you.

thank you for keeping those evil marketers in line. So pointless the damage they do--stop polluting this space and start contributing to it.

Glad you're in this space.

ck, all the debate that serious and committed professionals may have are endangered by this issue. i do not even know how much is a sony fault and what part took the agency.

Gianandrea ... great detective work! Sony should review their roster -- and if they want to do some good work, they should talk to CK!

Hey, I know Chris Heuer. Small world. Why not come out and say you're blogging for Sony? Once you get that out of the way, you can find all sorts of interesting ways to create a platform that people will want to participate in and spread.

valeria, you are right. when you have such a hype product, build a community is not such a pain. and there is no reason.

Just an FYI Greg Meyerkord hasn't worked at Zipatoni for 6 years.

so you (and it would be great to know who you are, by the way) mean that he claimed to work for zipatoni and it wasn't true? who was hired by sony? zipatoni, meyerkord, anybody? they did all by themselves? we more than welcome true, honesty and trasparence.
